meet the Artivists
Liturgy for Turbulent Times brings together an unlikely collective of creative voices with a variety of impetuses for being a part of this show. Here are a few of the voices that created this one of a kind performance:
“Of all the artistic mediums I embody, music is the only one that makes my entire life make sense to me. All it takes is one note to spark the magic born out of creative collaboration. That magic sends me overflowing with strength and courage to blow through life like the wind and despite its hair whipping craziness, stand in unwavering presence and stillness.#musicmakesmewhole
“I am an Artivist because when courage is met with courage the seemingly invisible path is illuminated.” – KIM CRECELIUS
“I am the tree
I am the wind
I am the tree
I am the water
Awakened,
joints crying,
crying out
in pain,
In illness,
in pain.
I am the tree.
It starts, Slowly
Heavy, Viscous
I am the tree.
Through music,
Through space,
Head, hands, back, feet.
The magic happens.
From inside,
Overflowing.
My heart
Overflowing
Through music,
Through space.
I am the wind
I am the water.
I am the wind
I am the dancer
Once again.
– KAREN TALCOTT
“The reason I am in this show is to encourage others that you can do anything you want to do with Parkinson’s. I love to dance! Dance opens the inner self to venture out of the body. Music enables the Parkie body to work. It’s amazing how I can feel the beats of the song and my body responds to it. As a result of Art as Action, I feel alive and normal again. The dances we do move my body and that feels great! I love practicing and interacting with other artists. Also, I love having a wonderful and supportive group of friends. Thanks so much Sarah, for teaching and working with us. You are an amazing person. I’m an Artivist because it makes me feel alive and gives me the freedom for self expression!” – TINA SCHOENHERR
