“we are not alone in our darkness” (Liturgy for Turbulent Times)

Liturgy for Turbulent Times gathers people together and creates an arena for authenticity, community and compassion through artistic expression. Our performers take on the identity of the Artivist – which means creating collaborative art from the heart and challenging each other to grow and speak our truths.

More than just one type of art, one solitary perspective, one individual’s artistic vision, Liturgy for Turbulent Times is a collaborative performance featuring Art as Action’s exceptional collective of Artivists.

A 100% original work, Liturgy for Turbulent Times is our 15th performance created through our one-of-a-kind collaborative framework, The Artivist Process.

Contributing Artivists: Carol Cowley, Kim Crecelius, Dave Crotser, Margie Dahlin, Amy Dressel-Martin, Wayne A. Gilbert, Jon Gold, Karen Horan, Jen Hightower, Jan Leversee, Sarah Leversee, Leann Roberts, Emma Scher, Tina Schoenherr, Karen Talcott

An experience of collective pain does not deliver us from grief or sadness; it is a ministry of presence.

These moments remind us that we are not alone in our darkness and that our broken heart is connected to every heart that has known pain since the beginning of time.

– Brene Brown

our mission

Art as Action brings people together at the intersection of dance, (dis)ability and creative potential.

19 years of Artivism

Art as Action was founded in 2002 to be a collaborative collective of Artivists— which we define as champions and ambassadors of the communal, universal, and healing language of art. Artivism emboldens the distinct, rare creativity deep within each individual.

OUR MISSION: Art as Action brings people together at the intersection of dance, (dis)ability and creative potential.
