November 13, 2019

how do you move through the world?

Last Sunday we did a full show run through, and our lighting designer Jenna saw the show for the first time.  After the final bow, she described the experience as “it warms the soul.”  Our past two shows, liturgy for turbulent times (2017) and (in)VISIBLE (2018) asked a lot of audiences – they were full of heavier topics like loss, spirituality and feminism.  Jenna’s comment made me realize that the moving project is a departure from those more challenging themes – it is our dancers sharing the power of moving our bodies, how dance moves us to express what is within us and inviting the audience to witness some of the many ways human beings move through this world.  The cast is dancing right on the edge of their comfort zones and it is a wonder to watch.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Art as Action show without some amazing spoken word and live music: Wayne Gilbert is in his element with two new poems, Jan Leversee has a brand new story for you and guitarist David Potter will play original musical interludes.  (come early to enjoy a full set by David starting 30 minutes before the show.)

Allow yourself to be MOVED by our physically integrative dance company – come see our show, and leave with a warm soul and happy heart.  Last year, our Sunday 4pm show was sold out by the Tuesday before – get your tickets today!

yours in Art and Action,

Sarah Leversee
Founder and Artistic Director

P.S. The recorded music we are dancing to is wide-ranging and totally awesome: Frank Sinatra, Alabama Shakes, Overcoats, Stars of the Lid, Micheal Franti & Spearhead, Mary Chapin Carpenter and more . . . . an amazing soundtrack of soul-warming tunes!
