a beacon of light in the darkness

Reconnect Birthday Party

The wonder of witnessing people discover their inner dancer never gets old.  The moment they uncover something new their bodies can do.  The energy and support of connecting with others making the same breakthroughs.  There is a light that ignites within – a light that exists in all of us.  I recognize this light in so many different situations:

  • Dancing with our dedicated, big hearted, courageous Reconnect dancers every Wednesday afternoon at our weekly class
  • Dancing with various local Parkinson’s Support Groups across the Denver Metro area
  • Dancing with the hundreds of attendees of the Parkinson Association of the Rockies e3 Conference during our From Disorder to Dancer presentation
  • Dancing with the founder of Dance for PD®, fellow teachers and people with Parkinson’s from all over the world at the World Parkinson Congress in Portland
  • Dancing with the friends and family members of our Reconnect dancers at our 5th Birthday Party
  • Dancing with the Reconnect dancers and the rest of the Artivists on the Art as Action stage during the body mind mystery show

In all my years as a dancer, performer and teacher, nothing compares to the labor of love that is Reconnect with your Body.  I have discovered my own light in leading this incredible community of dancers and bringing that magic into the Parkinson’s community.  I have discovered my own inner dancer that still exists and persists through my own injuries and limitations.  I have discovered a whole new level of Artivism in those that are willing to move their bodies and let their light shine.

Your donation makes it possible for Art as Action to continue to bring light into the world through the Reconnect with your Body program.  Be a part of the wonder – open your wallet and your heart today!

yours in Art and Action, with deep gratitude,

Sarah Leversee, Founder & Artistic Director of Art as Action
