Parkinson's Support Group Dance Demo

The Reconnect with your Body Dance Demo is about 1.25 hours long and includes:

  • An introduction about the joys and benefits of dance for Parkinson’s
  • A “mini class” for support group attendees to experience the magic of Reconnect
    • Class begins in chairs (preferably chairs without arms) and then moves to standing for those who are able. The standing exercises can be done sitting for those bodies that need/want to remain seated.
    • Class includes a wide variety of music that will inspire your body to dance!
  • Q&A

Reconnect with your Body explores the power of dance, community and artistic expression. Dance has the ability to transform and heal – plus it’s fun! Reconnect empowers participants to discover new ways to move by teaching how to think like a dancer, connect with your breath and find radical compassion for often ailing body parts. No dance experience is required.

Lifelong dancer Sarah Leversee teaches Reconnect, which celebrates its 7th anniversary this year.  Sarah travels to Parkinson's Support Groups across the state of Colorado throughout the year.

Reconnect with your Body is a program of Broomfield-based performing arts non-profit Art as Action, and an affiliate of the international network of Dance for PD® classes.

Sarah has extensive experience as a teacher, choreographer and performer. Sarah trained with Dance for PD® founding teacher David Leventhal and was awarded a Stanley J. Wertheimer Fellowship, which provides in-depth training and mentorship to exceptionally qualified teachers offering high quality dance classes modeled after Dance for PD®. Sarah is the founder and Artistic Director of Art as Action.
