HOW TO DONATE Dear Art Supporter, We invite you to join the artivist movement by supporting Art as Action. Founded in 2002, Art as Action is a grass roots movement of artists & activists whose mission is to use the power of collaborative art to create social change. Repeatedly, art has proven to be an extraordinary way to inspire & unite a community. Art as Action promotes art as social responsibility & brings global awareness to local artists & audiences. What is an ARTIVIST? art·ist (n.) A person who by virtue of imagination and talent creates works of art. ac·tiv·ist (n.) A person who takes intentional action to bring about social or political change. AR·TIV·IST (n.) A person who believes we can change the world by penetrating the collective consciousness through art and collaboration. Why should I join the ARTIVIST MOVEMENT? Since our inception, Art as Action has provided the support & structure to empower close to 100 artists to produce entertaining, powerful & socially relevant work of professional caliber: "Art as Action is, by far, the most professional, passionate, & talented group I have worked with. HOLDING PATTERN, our seventh full evening production, premieres August 13-15, 2010 at 8pm at The Packing House Center for the Arts in Denver, CO. HOLDING PATTERN will be a collective performance by our talented ensemble of choreographers, poets & musicians exploring what it means to be present while you wait, & how waiting defines our lives. In keeping with the HOLDING PATTERN theme, a percentage of ticket sales will be donated to Warren Village, a Denver non-profit that provides transitional housing for single parent families. Art as Action is a 100% volunteer organization, made possible in large part by support from art lovers, friends, community members & local businesses. Your donation will provide funds for necessary expenses such as rehearsal & performance space, props, costumes, sound equipment, administrative expenses & promotional materials.
